RESUMO: The genus Rhigus Schoenherr, 1823 comprises 13 species with distributions restricted to South America, especially in the Atlantic forest where nine of the species are found. Herein, we describe Rhigus yvaga Maffra, Ferreira and Mermudes sp. nov. occurring in Brazilian Amazonian and Cerrado biomes. This study provides a new species record for the amazonian biome which expands the distribution of Rhigus and reinforces that the group is more diverse than previously recognized.
